Compensations Elements
Reduction of IC disturbance emissions through compensation elements of 10 to 20 dB.
Electromagnetic fields which are directly emitted by the IC packages are the cause of remaining disturbance emissions despite EMC-optimized circuit board layouts. They can be extremely different depending on the IC type and manufacturer and cannot be eliminated through layout changes.
Description of the new strategy:
The principle of an opposite antenna is used. The compensation element generates an opposite electromagnetic field. This opposite field superimposes the IC's magnetic field and largely eliminates the emission excitation. A compensation element is placed above or beside the IC which was identified as the cause. Oscillators, bus drivers, ASIC, special ICs and processors, for example, are such causes.

The field distribution of the field to be compensated determines the position of the element on the module.
